About the Event

It's back! Dead Man’s Run is Congressional Cemetery's annual fall 5K fundraiser race! We hope that you will join us Saturday, October 12 at 5:30 PM for the region’s most death defying and thematic 5k race. This bare bones run is the best way to stay ahead of your grave…by running among them! The race starts with a toll of the funeral bell and continues throughout the Cemetery and onto the Anacostia Trail for a ghostly evening run full of spooky music and other fun!

Costumes and Prizes

Costumes are encouraged, with prizes for best individual costume and best team costume! Form a team to compete with your friends – and we love to see creative team names.

Support a Good Cause

All proceeds from Congressional Cemetery events, including Dead Man’s Run, help support our 501(c)(3) organization and fund the preservation of this National Historic Landmark. Historic Congressional Cemetery was founded in 1807. It is located at 1801 E Street SE in Washington, D.C. Many famous and notable U.S. residents are interred in Congressional Cemetery, including many Congressmen who died while in office; those Congressmen who passed away in office between 1833 and 1876 are represented by Benjamin Latrobe’s iconic cenotaphs. Congressional Cemetery is still an active burial ground, taking new interments. There are currently over 70,000 burials on 35 acres. The cemetery is also a dog-walking park, with K-9 Corps membership fees helping to sustain the Cemetery.
