The Lone Wolf Backyard Ultra

Welcome to the Den! Our popular Lone Wolf Backyard Ultra returns for 2024 with some exciting changes. Situated at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre, this event offers a challenging trail running experience for participants.

What is a Backyard Ultra?

A Backyard Ultra is a looped race where participants start together and aim to finish the loop within the hour. The race starts again on the hour in the opposite direction, and the goal is to complete as many loops as possible.

The Lone Wolf

The Lone Wolf Backyard Ultra features a single track 6.64km loop with 198m of elevation gain and descent. Participants can choose to compete solo as Wolves or in 2-person teams as Coyotes.

2024 Route

The 2024 route has been slightly modified to offer a challenging yet rewarding experience for all participants. The course is 6.64km with 198m of ascent and descent.

Costs and Categories

Registration costs vary for adults and youth participants, with options for solo and team categories. The event offers unique swag and prizes for participants.

Schedule

Registration takes place on Friday, September 20 at The Park Place Lodge in Fernie. The race kicks off on Saturday, September 21 at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre.
