2024 Back of Beyond Paddle Race

Two days of stand up paddling and kayaking events through the spectacular red rock canyons of Southeastern Utah and past some of the world's most breathtaking scenery. Day 1 is the 7 mile 'Postcard Alley' flatwater race. Starting at Dewey Bridge and ending at Hittle Bottom boat ramp. A battle of distance, reading water, and endurance. Day 2 is the 'StandUp-ShowDown' a whitewater race running through Rocky Rapid. Racers will sprint to navigate buoy turns through this class 2/3 rapid to take the title. Flatwater Race Divisions: Elite Race Men’s Division- 14′ boards and under Women’s Division- 14′ boards and under Open Race Men’s Division- 14′ boards and under Women’s Division- 14′ boards and under Youth Race Boy’s Division- 12’6″ boards and under Girl’s Division- 12’6″ boards and under Whitewater Race: Men’s Division- 11′ boards and under Women’s Division- 11′ boards and under Kayaking Race: Men’s Division Women’s Division Schedule: Friday September 20th-5:00-8:00 pm Packet Pick-up and final registration: Paddle Moab 44 W 200 N, Moab, Utah 84532 Saturday September 21st - Flatwater Race Dewey to Hittle 10:00 Day of Registration, events, sponsor booths, and vendors 12:00 Day-of registration closes 12:30 all racers should be at starting area (Dewey Bridge) 12:45 MANDATORY safety meeting for all racers 1:00 Youth Race starts 1:10 Elite Race starts 1:20 Open Race starts 1 :30 Kayak Race Starts 2:00-5:00 Shuttle for racers from Hittle to Dewey 5:00 Awards Ceremony, Raffle, and Post Race Party at Hittle Bottom Sunday September 22nd - Rocky Rapid 8:30 Staging area opens at Rocky Rapid.(Located 13 miles east from the junction of Highway 191 and Highway 128) 9:00 All Racer’s should be at starting line for pre-race talk 9:30 Whitewater race start-11:30 Awards Ceremony Prizes Cash Prizes for Elite Men and Women, awards for top 3 finishers in each category.
