The Hero Hill Climb

Welcome to the 3rd annual Hero Hill Climb! This event takes place on Saturday, May 24, 2025, during Memorial Weekend. It's a wonderful opportunity to honor our fallen veterans and raise awareness about the sacrifices made by our military personnel.

Participants can choose to walk, run, or mountain bike in this family-friendly event. Starting in front of Camp Merrill Army Ranger Base, each participant receives a card bearing the name of a fallen hero. Your mission is to carry this card to the top of the hill as a tribute to their service.

At the summit, participants will find a large Hero board, an American flag, and a freedom bell. You are invited to pin your Hero card to the board, ring the bell in their honor, and then return down the hill.

This event provides an amazing view, and you will also walk alongside the 5th Ranger Army Training Battalion. All participants will receive a commemorative Challenge Coin as a token of appreciation that you can either keep or share with someone else.

Included in the day's festivities is an after-party at "The Overhang," the on-base bar & grill with food, drinks, raffle giveaways, and live music following the race.

Don't worry if you're not sure about your ability to walk or run up the hill; there will be Jeeps and UTVs available for safe transportation to and from the top. Moreover, a virtual participation option is available for those unable to attend in person.

Proceeds from the event benefit the US Mountain Ranger Association (USMRA) and Mission22, supporting veterans through community-building and mental wellness programs.
