The world’s fastest athletes on ice will slide into Whistler, B.C. as Luge Canada and the Whistler Sliding Centre host the 53rd FIL Luge World Championships. More than 150 athletes, representing over 25 countries, will battle for the title of king and queen of luge in the most prestigious event on the international calendar in a non-Olympic year. This action-packed event features a track full of activities including entertainment, local food options, beer gardens, and much more for the whole family to enjoy! Be trackside to watch athletes reach speeds up to 130 km/h while sliding down the high-banked corners of the renowned Whistler Sliding Centre track that snakes down Blackcomb Mountain. Cheer on Team Canada and your international favorites in their quest for the World Championship podium! Don't miss this exciting opportunity to be part of luge history!
Race Schedule:
- February 6, 10:30am - 1:30pm: Mixed Singles, Mixed Doubles, Award Ceremony
- February 7, 2:00pm - 8:30pm: Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, Women's Singles, Award Ceremony
- February 8, 1:45pm - 6:45pm: Men's Singles, Team Relay, Award Ceremony
Gates open 30 minutes before race time. Après Luge with: February 7 & 8 - The Hairfarmers Perform (Live Band) at Gibbons Beer Garden with French'eese Whistler Pop Up Food Tent.
Admission: $10/day ADVANCE, $15/day GATE; $25/weekend (3 days) ADVANCE, $40/weekend (3 days) GATE; 12 & under FREE. Access the Whistler Sliding Centre via the Excalibur Gondola mid-station for FREE. NO PARKING ON SITE.
