Salomon Coast Mountain Trail Running (CMTR) hosts quality, challenging, professionally-run trail events in world class destinations around Vancouver's North Shore and the Sea to Sky Corridor.

Buckin' Hell

With almost 2500 meters / 8250 feet of climbing and descent through the rough and rugged North Shore Mountains of British Columbia, Buckin' Hell earns its name, and reputation. The race starts and finishes at the Mount Seymour Resort, atop Mount Seymour, and runners begin by running straight up the mountain from there. After tagging a lower summit, runners will begin their 1200 meter descent on down to the Seymour River far, far below. Along the way competitors travel through remnants of old growth forest, mixed in with modern day bike trails, woodwork and seemingly never ending technical terrain underfoot. Don’t leave it all out there on the descent as you still have to climb back on up the opposite side of the mountain to finish this thing off! Buckin' Hell is an absolute showcase of some of the best trails and vantage points that Vancouver's North Shore has to offer. Start and finish in the scenic ski resort area of Mt Seymour Resort. Plan to stick around for our newly-added Beer Garden in partnership with Bridge Brewing. And don't forget - included in your registration is finish line pizza! Distance options of a 35K course, a 50K ultra distance, and a 50K two-person relay. Featuring local favourite trails such as the Baden Powell, Mystery Lake, Neds, Severed, Brockton Lookout and the eponymous Old Buck trail, this is one of the most technically challenging 50km races you'll come across! In addition to the classic race-branded beer glass, every runner will also get a pair of these stylish red runners' gloves, also branded with the Buckin' Hell logo. Registration closes at 600 participants. $5 from every registration goes to support the trails via the North Shore Mountain Bike Association. Additional donations welcome. As well, one tree will be planted locally for every registration, in partnership with a Fraser Valley rehabilitation project. Our Kids Race is a ~1km run designed for ages 3-10 with special kids' bibs and finisher stickers. Registration is free, and is available online, or on race morning. During registration, we offer parents the opportunity to donate to Butterfly Run Vancouver , a local organization that supports families dealing with pregnancy and infant loss.

Fee Notes

1. Online registration will close at midnight on July 24, 2024.

2. 5% GST will be applied at checkout on your registration.

Deferral/Cancellation Policy

Bibs are not transferrable to another runner under any circumstances. Once a race distance is sold out, that’s it – there will be no new spots, no waitlist, and no transfers. Up to 30 days before race day, we can offer a 100% deferral of fees, towards another NOT YET SOLD OUT, CMTR event. Between 14 to 30 days before race day, we can arrange a 50% deferral of race fees, towards another NOT YET SOLD OUT, CMTR event. Deferrals are only applicable for one calendar year from the race you transfer out of (meaning the race entry can be deferred to any OTHER race, but not the same race one year later). Entries can only be deferred a single time, to a single event. Within 2 weeks of race day - No refunds. No deferral. No exceptions. At any time, you can request to drop down in distance within the same event. There is no cost or refund for dropping down. We do not allow runners to move up in distance. Full refunds can ONLY be processed for anyone who selects the optional refund insurance during registration. In the event of cancellation of the event for reasons including, but not limited to, weather, forest fires, acts of nature, war, strikes or other circumstances, Coast Mountain Trail Running will provide a limited refund and discount towards the same event in the following year.

Code of Ethics

Please note that you cannot complete registration if you have ever been banned from any event, for any sport, for cheating, whether by doping, shorting the course, or other means. No athlete who has served a cheating ban is eligible to participate at any of our events.
