Make Your Miles Matter in Honor of Mike Horner
The Horner Hustle is back for its eighth year, raising money for Project Purple. Join friends, family, neighbors, and strangers for a fun 5K run or 1-mile walk to raise money for a world without pancreatic cancer.
When: Saturday, August 23, 2025
Where: Centennial Park, 100 S. Western, Park Ridge, IL 60068
Time: Race starts at 8 a.m. CDT
The Horner Hustle was created in honor of Mike Horner, who lived in Edison Park with his wife, Heather, and daughter Mary Helen. He was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in December 2015. The Horner Hustle is a fun run/walk, designed to bring the community together. Mike believed in the power of community, and the Horner Hustle has raised over $150,000 for Project Purple, demonstrating just how powerful community can be!
The Horner, Dunne, Balducci, and Pietryla families have partnered with Project Purple again to host the 5K at Centennial Park, or virtually from anywhere, raising funds for early detection and a cure for pancreatic cancer in Mike's honor.
