Mogadishu Mile - Run With Heroes

Join us for the Mogadishu Mile - Run With Heroes event, taking place on October 7th in Knoxville, TN. This event is organized by the Task Force Rangers Memorial Foundation to honor the military veterans who served in Operation Gothic Serpent in Mogadishu, Somalia, 30 years ago. Lace up your running shoes and run alongside the veterans who ran the original Mogadishu Mile.

The original Mogadishu Mile was a route run by United States Army Rangers and Special Forces soldiers during the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993. It was the inspiration for the movie Black Hawk Down. Many of the veterans who ran the original mile will be participating in this fun run.

The fun run will take place in downtown Knoxville and is open to all runners and walkers, regardless of age and ability. The course is 1 mile long, starting from Blount Avenue and ending at Jackson Avenue. This is not a timed race, so participants can run or walk at their own pace.

Experience the thrill of air support as an air re-fueling tanker and Blackhawk helicopters soar above the Gay Street Bridge, marking the start of the run. It will be a breathtaking sight that you won't want to miss.

By participating in this event, you will be making a meaningful difference in the lives of Mogadishu veterans. All proceeds from the event will go directly to support those who served.

Registration is open to anyone 18 and over. Kids under 18 can participate for free, but must be accompanied by a registered adult. The first 300 registrants will receive a Mogadishu Mile T-shirt, so be sure to sign up early. Registration will close on October 4th, but walk-up registration will be available on the morning of the event.

If you don't want to run, you can still participate by donating the registration fee and coming to watch the fun run. After the race, head over to The Wagon Wheel in the Old City for post-race hydration.
