Portishead Popsicle 2024 - festive cold water swimming gala

About the Event

If you fancy a festive swimming challenge, a bit of friendly competition and a good excuse to soak in a hot tub, drink mulled wine and eat mince-pies, then this is the event for you. In the past, water temperatures for Portishead Popsicle have been as low as four degrees Celsius.

Event Highlights

• 133m Relay: A team of 4 swimmers each swims one length of the pool. Extra points for imaginative headgear.
• 133m Event: Freestyle, results posted for male, female, wetsuit and non-wetsuit swimmers.
• 333m Event: Freestyle, similar to the 133m event.
• 66.6m Fly Event: Butterfly stroke.
• Individual Medley: 1 length each of butterfly, backstroke, breast stroke, and front crawl.
• The Grand National: Swim with an inflatable unicorn steed.
• Fast & Furious: A team event with the most lengths swum in 15 minutes.

Spectators Welcome

Hot tubs, mulled wine, and snacks available. Spectators can enjoy a great view of the swims!

Entries close on 2nd December. Registration is 08:30 to 10:30 on the day. The first race starts at 09:30. Full schedule sent to registered swimmers on 9th December.

Safety and Experience

Swimmers must be over 14 years old. Cold water swimming experience is recommended. All events are life-guarded.
