Welcome to the 2025 Let's Move Summit County Bike & Hike event! Join us for a day of outdoor fun at the Summit Lake Community Center. Get ready to pedal and trek through the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail, taking in the scenic views and fresh air.

This in-person event is perfect for all fitness levels, so grab your friends and family for a day of adventure. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with nature and stay active.


Event Details:

  • When: Saturday, May 17, 2025
  • Where: Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail at Summit Lake, Akron, OH
  • Bike Check-In: 7:30 a.m., groups of 40 every 15 minutes between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m.
  • Hike Check-In: 10:30 a.m., groups of 60 every 15 minutes between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Participants will ride or walk on a designated route along the Towpath Trail starting and ending at Summit Lake Community Center. Riders will depart first, followed by walkers. The bike course will take riders from Summit Lake to Nesmith Lake and back (approximately 6 miles). The walk will be a 2.75 mile loop around Summit Lake starting at Summit Lake Community Center.

This event is open to the public, and the first 200 registered riders and 300 walkers will receive event t-shirts and donated items from partners and sponsors. A limited number of bikes and helmets will be available to rent for the course with an ID security deposit. All cyclists must wear a helmet and sign a liability waiver before participating.

Participants will have access to restrooms at the Summit Lake Community Center and will be provided a free prepackaged lunch upon returning to the Summit Lake Park. Refreshment and water stations will be available at the turn-around points.

Online pre-registration will begin on March 14, 2025 and end on May 2, 2025.
