Qualification Standard: Must have finished a 100 Mile race prior to registration.

Participant Experience

Each registered runner will have an allotted space for personal gear inside the U-Pick Stand which serves as the start-finish line, aid station, and packet pickup. This location has power, water, and indoor plumbing. Runners may arrive on site no earlier than 9 AM prior to the event and no course previews are allowed. The 4.167 mile loop has a 75 feet elevation gain. The race continues until all but one runner is left, who must finish one more loop in one hour to claim victory.

Event Specific Rules

• Runners must be in the starting box when the hourly bell sounds.
• Personal assistance is not allowed on the course, but permitted between laps.
• Aids like trekking poles are forbidden.

The longest distance recorded by a competitor in a backyard ultra event is 108 laps (450 miles) by Harvey Lewis at the 2023 Big's Backyard Ultra. The world female record is 74 laps (308.3 miles) set by Jennifer Russo in 2023.
