2026 PVTC Christmas Caper

Event Details

The 2026 PVTC Christmas Caper features both 5K and 10K running and race walk events. The courses are flat, walker- and wheelchair-friendly, consisting of one or two out-and-back segments on paved roads around Hains Point.

Schedule

• Online Registration Closes: Wednesday, December 16, at 12:00 noon
• Race-day Packet Pickup: 7:00 AM - 7:45 AM
• Pre-race Instructions & National Anthem: 7:52 AM
• 5K Run & Race Walk Start: 8:00 AM
• 10K Run Start: 8:10 AM
• Course Must Finish By: 9:30 AM

No race-day registration is available. Only one race per person.

Location & Parking

The event takes place at East Potomac Park Golf Course, south of the Jefferson Memorial. Ample and free parking is available at the golf course.

Courses

• 5K Course: Gather at the start/finish banner (approx. 200 feet south of East Potomac Park Golf Course entrance). Run south on the east side of Ohio Drive, right around Hains Point, north on the west side of Ohio Drive to a turnaround, then south on the west side, left around Hains Point, and north on the east side back to the finish.
• 10K Course: Gather approx. 200 feet north of the start/finish banner. Run the 5K course loop twice, turning around left at cones about 100 feet south of the finish line banner on the second loop before finishing under the banner.

Awards & Post-Race

Christmas ornaments will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each race across 10-year age groups (men and women), including racewalkers. Refreshments will be provided post-race to keep participants warm.
