Event Details

The Freedom Backyard Ultra Marathon is a 'Last Man Standing' event. Participants compete on a 4-mile, 880-foot loop (approximately 6.7 km) through undulating Midwest terrain, including rolling hills, creek crossings, fields, and small gravel road portions. Some wooded trails are technical, rocky, and root-covered, with 50% shaded during the day.

Rules

• Each yard (lap) must be completed in less than an hour.
• Participants must be inside the starting corral at the bell for each yard.
• No non-competitors or personal aid on the course during a yard.
• No artificial aids like trekking poles.
• Slower runners must yield to faster runners.
• The winner is the last person to complete a yard.

Race Swag & Amenities

• Race shirts guaranteed for sign-ups before May 6th, 2026.
• Onsite camping available.
• Hotels are located 15 minutes away in Sullivan, MO.
• Pre-race dinner and brief on the night before the event at 6:00 p.m.
• Main aid station at the barn with food and drinks.

Cause
