Marsh Madness is a free fat ass race run on the dikes at Point Mouillee State Game Area, where the Huron River, Detroit River, and Lake Erie converge. Views of Ontario and Ohio across the water await. The area consists of 4,040 acres and is one of the largest freshwater marsh restoration projects in the world. You may see an eagle or a random guy posing with a fish for his Tinder photo.

50 runners max. You supply all of your own aid and nutrition. Crew, pacers, and poles welcome. Elevation gain is 21 meters (69 feet) per loop, with 80% gravel and 20% asphalt. Zero water crossings are expected. Conditions should be in the 80s. You will have access to your vehicle every 8 miles, with an 8-mile loop during the day, and a 5-mile loop between 11 pm and 6 am.

Participants have 32 hours to complete the race, and no cut-off times will be imposed. It’s free, so there are no awards other than the beautiful scenery and inner accomplishment. Please note: No garbage cans, no porta-potties. Be prepared to pack it in and pack it out.
