Mt. Salem in Rockford Park - Jesus 5K

Join us on April 4th for the Mt. Salem in Rockford Park - Jesus 5K. Mt. Salem Church grew out of a community Sunday School movement. Before any public schools, starting in 1814 or 1815, the Brandywine Manufacturers’ Sunday School program of reading, writing, and ciphering along with Bible lessons was first conducted on the floor of a mill and then in its own building at the DuPont Powder Works. As public education became available the Brandywine Manufacturer’s Sunday School evolved into four Christian congregations. In 1841, St. Joseph on the Brandywine Roman Catholic Church (President Biden’s Church) was formed, dropping out of the Sunday School. Mt. Salem Methodist Church was founded in 1847, leaving the Sunday School movement. In 1851, a third group withdrew from the Sunday School to organize the Greenhill Presbyterian Church. Finally, in 1856, the Brandywine Manufacturers’ Sunday School closed as Christ Episcopal Church opened for its people.

Bib Pick Up & Registration: Saturday April 4th from 9:00AM till 9:45AM at Rockford Park Tower. 5K starts at 10:00AM sharp.

Awards & Age Groups: Overall Male/Female, Overall Masters Male/Female, Top 3 in each age group Male/Female (13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+). Overall and Masters based off GUN TIME. Age Groups based off CHIP TIME.

Volunteers will help with registration, course guidance, and finish line support while earning service hours and making a positive impact. Click here to complete volunteer sign up registration. • Registration Help: check in participants, distribute race bibs, and assist with last-minute registrations.
• Course Marshals: Positioned along the race route, Course Marshals ensure participants stay on track, provide encouragement, and help maintain a safe course environment.
• Finish Line Water: Hand out bottled water to participants as they cross the finish line.
• Finish Line Snacks: Assist with distributing post-race snacks to runners and walkers.
