The Red S.H.O.E. (Self-Care, Healthy Options & Exercise) 5K Walk/Run is proudly sponsored by the Athens Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. This inaugural event on Saturday, April 18, 2026, is designed to promote physical and mental health and wellness within the Athens community and surrounding areas. It encourages participants to engage in self-care, healthy lifestyle choices, and regular physical activity. Event proceeds will support the chapter’s programmatic thrusts, including community service initiatives and scholarships for college-bound high school seniors.

Race Day Schedule:
7:00am: Race day registration and Packet Pickup
8:00am: Red S.H.O.E 5K start
9:00am: Awards

Course: The start and finish are located near the sunflowers in Dudley Park. This is an out and back course.

T-Shirts: Register by March 31, 2026, to guarantee a t-shirt. A $5.00 discount is available for the No-Shirt option.

Awards: Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female, and age group awards (1st, 2nd, 3rd place) for various age brackets.

Virtual Option: Run your 3.1 miles anywhere and submit your finish time by 12 noon on April 25, 2026. Virtual runners are not eligible for t-shirts or race day awards.
