This trail race includes steep pitches and lofty downhill sections as it undulates within the beautiful Marin Headlands hills and coastline. Coastal trail and Pirates cove offer astonishing views of the Pacific ocean, while glimpses of San Francisco and the Golden Gate bridge appear as you traverse the singletrack of the SCA Trail. As part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Marin Headlands is rich with wildlife, including foxes, coyotes, and bobcats, along with the occasional mountain lion sighting.

With distances of 8K, Half Marathon, 30K, and 50K there is a race to challenge and appreciate all running abilities and a scenery that will make even the most curse-worthy climb more benign.

• Start Times: 30K & 50K - 7:00 AM, Half Marathon - 7:15 AM, 8K - 7:45 AM
• Time Limit: 8.5 hour time limit for the 50K race.
• Race Capacity: 350 runners, across all distances.

Aid Station Supplies

Aid stations may provide: Gu Energy gels (Note: GGNRA does not allow Gu Gels at aid stations on their property: Conzuleman and Tennessee Valley), chews, and Stroopwafels, trail mix, pretzels, potato chips, Oreo cookies, boiled potatoes with salt, Coke, Ginger Ale, water, Skratch Hydration Mix, PB&J sandwiches, M&M’s, salt tablets, bananas, watermelon, and tangerines. Aid stations are also equipped with general first aid items, including Salt-Stick tablets, but no anti-inflammatory medicine. Runners are encouraged to carry at least one 20oz bottle.

Volunteer

Volunteers assist with setup, check-in, aid stations, course marshaling, timing, and post-race food. All volunteers receive a free race T-shirt, free food, and the ability to earn credit toward a future Inside Trail Racing event.

Shirts

Race shirts are District Perfect-Tri tri-blend fabric. To be guaranteed a shirt and shirt size, you must register by July 18, 2026.

Awards

Top three overall winners (male and female) of each race distance receive a custom trophy. Top finisher for each distance (male and female) receives a special sponsor item. All finishers receive a custom medal. All 50K finishers receive a pint glass. The Dead Last Finisher (DLF) in each event receives a custom award. Age-group medals (3 deep) awarded for both males and females in categories from 13 and under to 70 and over. 50K Distance 21+ Age-group Winners receive a bottle of wine from Atlas Wine Co.

The Fine Print

Entry fees are non-refundable. Credits worth 50% of the original race fee toward a future Inside Trail Racing event may be issued if cancellation is received at least 3 weeks prior to the race. Credits expire 1 year after the date issued. No credit provided if cancellation is made within 3 weeks of the race. In case of event cancellation by ITR (e.g., earthquakes, floods, extreme weather, unsafe air quality, pandemics), there will be no refunds. ITR may offer future race credit or deferrals at its discretion. Races are not cancelled due to rain or heat. Permitting agencies may require course changes prior to an event; no refunds, credits, deferrals, or transfers will be offered in such situations. If a race location is changed, registrations will be transferred or participants can run remotely. If a race is postponed, all entrants will be transferred to the new date.
