SARR Prickly Pear

Event Overview

Join the San Antonio RoadRunners for the 24th running of the Prickly Pear, featuring 50K, 15K, and 5K distances. The in-person race takes place on the natural trails of McAllister Park, characterized by dirt, rocks, and tree roots. Trail shoes are recommended.

Race Details

• The race is chip-timed, and participants must wear a bib.
• Awards will be given to the Top 3 Overall and Masters (40+) Female/Male/Non-Binary runners in all three distances.
• All finishers receive a medal. 50K runners also receive a finishers hat and car sticker.
• Race results will be available on race day, and photos posted online within 4-5 days.

Course Information

• 50K: Starts at 6:00 AM CST, consists of three 10.34-mile loops. Participants must start their 3rd loop before 12:45 PM.
• 15K: Starts at 8:00 AM CST, consists of one 9.36-mile loop.
• 5K: Starts at 8:30 AM CST, is 3.38 miles long.
• All distances start and finish at McAllister Park’s Optimist Pavilion #3. The course cut-off time for all distances is 4:00 PM (10 hours).
• The course at McAllister Park is mostly flat and fast single-track trails, including the Blue Loop, Mud Creek Loop, and Mosquito Lake trails.
• For safety, dogs and strollers are not allowed on the course.

Aid Stations & Hydration

This is a cupless race. Participants must carry their own hydration device or collapsible cup. Three water stations are on the 50K/15K course, and one on the 5K course, stocked with Crazy Water and Gatorade.

Packet Pick-up

• Friday, March 5th, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at REI Co-op, 11745 I-10, Suite 110, San Antonio, TX 78230.
• Race day morning starting at 5:15 AM near Optimist Pavilion #3.

Virtual Race

Participants can complete 50K/15K/5K anywhere. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards or 50K finishers hats but receive a race t-shirt, finishers medal, and 50K will receive an oval finishers sticker. Shipping for virtual packets must be added at registration or picked up in person.

Registration

Registration opens April 10, 2026, at 12:00 AM CDT. The race has a cap of 600 runners and is expected to sell out. SARR members save 25% through January 31, 2027.
