Run with a donkey in the "Town Too Tough to Die!" Please join us for the 7th Annual Tombstone Desert Donkey Dash on Saturday, April 18, 2026!

Events:

• Tombstone Desert Donkey Dash 3 Mile Intro Course
• Tombstone Desert Donkey Dash 6 Mile Short Course
• Tombstone Desert Donkey Dash 13 Mile Long Course

Mandatory Rules:

Each runner must have a personal donkey or have arranged for one prior to registering. No solo runners allowed. No other equines permitted. No riding. This is an in-hand trail race. Donkeys must be sound, healthy, and fit to race. Mistreatment of any donkey results in immediate disqualification.

Pack Saddle & Paraphernalia Requirements:

• 13 Mile Long Course: Donkey must be equipped with a pack saddle carrying prospector's paraphernalia (pick, gold pan, and shovel). Missing items result in disqualification.
• 6 Mile Short Course: Pack saddle not mandatory.
• 3 Mile Intro Course: Pack saddle not mandatory.

Lead Rope:

Must be attached to a halter and not exceed 15 feet in length. Runner may only be attached to the halter.

Control of Donkey:

Runners must keep their donkey under control. If the runner loses control by dropping the lead rope, the team must return to the point where the lead rope was dropped to stay in the race.

Team:

1 Runner & 1 Donkey. No assistants allowed. No swapping donkeys.

Awards:

• 3 Mile & 6 Mile Courses: Trophies for top three finishers.
• 13 Mile Course: Trophies and prize money for top three finishers (1st- $500, 2nd- $300, 3rd- $200).

Withdrawal Policy:

All entries are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Course Details:

Courses are challenging and rocky. Boots for donkeys are highly recommended. Marked by color: 3 Mile (Yellow Ribbons), 6 Mile (Blue Ribbons), 13 Mile (Orange Ribbons). Water stations available.
