2026 Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim

This is the 33rd Annual Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim, an open-water swimming event from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco's Aquatic Park. It is described as the swim that the Anglin Brothers and Frank Lee Morris successfully attempted in their escape from Alcatraz on June 12, 1962. The event is limited and sells out in advance.

Important Note: This swim is NOT for novices and is for experienced open-water swimmers only. Participants should be able to swim one mile comfortably in a pool in under 40 minutes.

Age Group Breakdown

Male and Female: 11-12, 13-14, 15-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89.

Cancellations

Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Enhanced Refund Protection Program is available. Rollover credits may be available with a $50 fee if canceled by July 8, 2026. A doctor's note is required after that date.
