Picture the headlamps surrounding the lake during the nighttime hours. Mantua Reservoir in the Springtime - the race is situated on Mantua Reservoir, so there will be no shortage of scenery and wildlife to make your race ultra enjoyable. Springtime in Mantua is highlighted by the famous Mantua Poppy Fields, in addition to the beautifully green farmland and mountain hillsides surrounding the Reservoir. The Trail is Flat and Fast. The trail is firm dirt with some gravel. Many runners will utilize cushioned road shoes. Temperatures should also be ideal on May 30, 2026. Perfect for setting an ultra distance PR. The Backyard Ultra of Northern Utah is the perfect first ultra marathon for someone who is wanting to dip their toes into ultra marathons. The Backyard Ultra format will allow them to test their limits for as long as they want, with no fear of covering a mandatory distance. The Backyard Ultra of Northern Utah is also the perfect ultra marathon for the most experienced of ultra marathon runners who want to take their race beyond 100 miles (belt buckle) or even into that coveted 200+ mile range like so many premier Backyard Ultras are attaining.
