Cactus Roulette Endurance Event

Register January 23 - 24, 2027 at Clinton Lake State Park, Lawrence, KS.

This is a duration trail race hosted by the Lawrence Trail Hawks with 4 time options: 24 hours, 12 hour Saturday pm (Owl), 12 hour Sunday am (Lark), and 6 hours Sunday. Runners will spin a roulette wheel to determine which loop they run next, with three different loops ranging from 1.9 to 3.6 miles. Each loop will begin and end at base camp at Coneflower Campground.

Awards: Every starter receives a completion award. Awards for male, female, and nonbinary categories for all 4 time options. First place 24-hour finishers receive a $250 cash award (minimum 100 miles). 24-hour runners completing 100+ miles receive custom belt buckles. Unique SWAG provided per time block (guaranteed for registrations prior to January 9, 2027). The Cactus Roulette Blanket is available for purchase.

Course Details:

• SWIM BEACH (Blue): 3.6 miles, 253 ft elevation. Technical trail on blue and white trails.
• CACTUS RIDGE (Green): 2.6 miles, 239 ft elevation. Technical trail on the north side of West Park Road.
• BUNKER HILL (Red): 1.9 miles, 150 ft elevation. Cross-country field conditions with two steep climbs.

Schedule:

• Saturday 1/23: 9 am - 11 am packet pick up; Noon - 24 hour and 12 hour Owl start; 9 pm - 11 pm packet pick up for 12 hour Lark; Midnight - 12 hour Owl finish, 12 hour Lark start.
• Sunday 1/24: 2 am - Pacers allowed for 24 hour runners; 4 am - 5:30 am 6 hour packet pick up; 6 am - 6 hour start; Noon - 24 hour, 12 hour Lark, and 6 hour finish; 12:30pm - awards presentation.

Rules: Finish line closes at noon on Sunday 1/24. Pacers allowed for 24-hour runners only. No refunds for cancellation; packets may be available. Alternate course may be provided if trails are unsafe. Dogs are not allowed. Clinton State Park vehicle sticker required.

Linked Racers: Teams of 2-5 can run linked, spinning the wheel as a team and running together. Awards are shared.
