The CanLake Ultra 50 mile is a race around Canandaigua Lake during peak fall foliage. The course, nestled in New York's Finger Lakes region, offers a mix of challenging terrains, from flat stretches to rolling hills, all framed by serene views of the lake and surrounding vineyards. The fully supported race has 11 aid stations offering fuel and panoramic views. Not ready for the full 50 miles? We also have a 50 km option that shares the last part of the 50 mile course.

New in 2026

We at FarFetched Enterprises and Wolfpack Multisport had a blast directing our first CanLake Ultras in 2025. Our goal was to continue to provide continuity in the race people have loved for over 20 years, but also keep an watchful eye out for ways to continue to develop the race. Most of the race experience will stay the same, but there are a few things that will be changing this year:

• We will be starting a new 5-person relay option for the 50 mile race. We're going to start with a limited number of spots with the goal of growing this part of the event while still providing a safe and fun experience for the solo runners.
• A single start time for the 50-mile solo at 7AM, but with an extended finish cutoff to 8PM.

Race Day Schedule

• 06:00 AM - Packet pickup and check-in opens @ Atrium
• 06:50 AM - Packet pickup and check-in closes
• 07:00 AM - 50 mile start
• 09:00 AM - Shuttle for 50 km leaves finish area
• 10:00 AM - 50 km start
• 02:30 PM - Post-race meal opens @ Atrium
• 08:00 PM - finish closes

Volunteers

CanLake Ultras can't run without the dedicated support of volunteers. We would like to reward this with some special giveaways: All volunteers will receive a race shirt and post-race meal. Aid Station Captains and some other key positions will also receive free entry to one of FarFetched Enterprises upcoming events. Any non-profit organization volunteering as a group will receive a portion of the race revenue, to be determined after the event.

Volunteer Registration Policies

We have relaxed deadlines and removed all fees associated with participant transfers, distance switching, deferrals, and refunds. Participant transfers will be allowed through October 8, 2026. There is no fee for either person. Distance switching will be allowed through October 8, 2026. There is no fee. Deferrals to next year's event will be allowed through September 19, 2026. There is no fee for deferrals. Refunds will be available through September 5, 2026. Refunds will include 100% of the registration fee, but will not include RunSignup fees. We reserve the right to cancel any event with low registration. If that happens, we will provide a full refund or credit to another event.

CanLake Ultras 50 Miler Run one big road loop around the most beautiful Finger Lake in Western New York. The course is mostly flat to rolling roads with several major climbs, including the locally famous Bopple Hill. MapMyRun link to 50M Race Course

CanLake Ultras 50Km Run point-to-point over the final 31 miles of the 50-mile route. With significantly less climbing and descending than the first 19 miles of the 50-mile route, the 50K is more friendly for first-time ultra runners and a logical step up from the marathon. Personal Handler Having a personal handler at CanLake Ultras is a privilege and perk that we are happy to provide. However, with this privilege comes the responsibility of learning and following the safety rules of the race. Make sure that your personal handlers follow the safety rules, or your result will be disqualified. The waiver you will electronically sign includes the following text. PERSONAL HANDLER WAIVER. (For runners that plan to use personal handler at the CanLake Ultras) I accept full responsibility for the personal handler(s) actions that personal handler(s) will familiarize themselves with and follow all safety rules outlined in the Race Handbook. Failure to follow safety rules by the personal handler(s) -intentional or unintentional - will result in the runner's DISQUALIFICATION.
