Welcome to Extremus presented by The Endurance Society, a long-distance winter point-to-point trek through the spectacular Adirondack wilderness known this year as the Great Range Traverse. Over 24 miles of snow, ice, rock, and wind, this course traverses remote backcountry terrain that challenges both body and mind. The course features approximately 10,000 feet of total elevation change.
Adirondack alpine terrain with varied surfaces including snow, ice, and technical rock sections. This is a remote wilderness experience. Participants should be prepared for a full day in winter conditions with variable weather and temperatures. This is an alpine style group trek and NOT a race.
Lodging is not included. Bunks are available at TMax-n-Topo, 5046 Cascade Road, Lake Placid, NY 12946 ($32 per night, must reserve online). Private rooms are available across the street at Cascade hotel, and numerous other lodging choices are in Lake Placid, NY.
This is a self-supported winter trek. Your pack should start under 30 lbs. Avoid cotton and overdressing. Required and optional gear is listed below.
