Fort Smith General Darby Challenge

The Fort Smith General Darby Challenge is a non-sanctioned but timed event that welcomes participants to ruck, run, or walk competitively or at your own pace. You have 5 hours to cross the finish in all event categories. It is open to civilians, those on direct military orders, active and/or retired military, ROTC/JROTC.

Events:

• Virtual Event (Not Timed / No awards/Finisher medal)
• Individual 13.1mile 25lbs+ (Timed Ruck, Run, Walk or Crawl)
• 13.1 mile Run
• 10K / 6.2 mile (Timed Run, Hike or Walk)
• 5K / 3.1 mile (Timed Run, Hike or Walk)

Date: Sunday, April 26, 2026

Start Time: 7:00 AM CDT

Location: Downtown Fort Smith at Cisterna Park. FSGDC begins and ends at the “Darby Statue” (1001 Garrison Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72901)

Details:

• Ruck with 25lbs or more weighed before and at finish line.
• Finisher medals will be awarded to participants completing the challenge.
• Special recognition will be awarded to those with the best times.
• All participants have the option to purchase a t-shirt at registration for $20.00 (Last day for t-shirt orders is April 12th, 2026).

All proceeds from these events will benefit the Fort Smith Museum of History and new Darby House organization.
