About the Event
Goats In The Dark 5k
"Goats in the Dark" is back! The course is unchanged, starting at the corner of LeGrande Cannon Blvd and Silverette St, on Helena's far west side. However, the race will take place about a month earlier than in past years, making for more pleasant nighttime temperatures and beautiful sunset views before full darkness descends upon the course. Headlamps are still required -- don't forget yours!
The course follows LeGrande Cannon Blvd east to Tubbs Trailhead, where runners head up the switchbacks for a fun loop on Swaney, Diretissima and Ambrose trails on Mount Helena's western flank. Runners finish the singletrack portion of the course on the Panhandle trail, which drops down to Reber Rd and back onto LeGrande Cannon Blvd for a 1/4-mile sprint back to the start/finish line.
