The Grand Blue Mile, presented by Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield, inspires healthy habits and celebrates personal achievement. Since 2010, over 50,000 participants from 47 states, six countries, and four continents have joined in this annual one-mile street run in Downtown Des Moines. Designed for all ages and abilities, the event offers something for everyone—from competitive runners and elite athletes to recreational participants and families. The Grand Blue Mile is more than a race; it's a vibrant celebration of wellness and community, with cheering crowds, live entertainment, and a festive atmosphere. Participants have the chance to run alongside national champions and world-class athletes, making it a uniquely thrilling experience. As part of the renowned Drake Relays, the Grand Blue Mile invites participants to join a legacy of athletic excellence, all while fostering lifelong fitness and health in a welcoming, fun-filled environment.

• Grand Blue Mile: $10, 6:00PM CDT - 8:00PM CDT. Registration Opens October 17, 2025 at 12:01am CDT. Open to ages 18+.
• Grand Blue Mile Youth: $10, 6:00PM CDT - 8:00PM CDT. Registration Opens October 17, 2025 at 12:01am CDT. Open to ages 17 and under.
• Virtual Grand Blue Mile: $10. Registration Opens October 17, 2025 at 12:01am CDT.
• Spike's Sprint: $10, 6:00PM CDT - 8:00PM CDT. Registration Opens February 10, 2026 at 12:00am CST. Open to ages 2 - 10.
