Heartland Ultra Endurance Event
The Heartland event offers a variety of challenging distances set on backcountry gravel roads through the Flint Hills tallgrass prairie. The event takes place from October 9-11, 2026, in Cassoday, Kansas.
Event Distances and Details:
- 125 Miler: Starts Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 PM. Features an out-and-back course with a 30-mile loop to Eureka, KS. Has rolling hills and 6,000 feet of climb. 38-hour time limit.
- 100 Miler: Starts Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 6:00 AM. An out-and-back course on backcountry gravel roads with less than one mile of paved surface. 30-hour time limit. Early start options available for Grand Masters (50+) and others with director approval.
- 100K: An out-and-back course on a portion of the Heartland 100 course to Texaco Hill aid station and back.
- Teter Rock 100K: An out-and-back course with a detour at Teterville rd aid station, running to Teter Rock and back.
- 50 Miler: An out-and-back course on a portion of the Heartland 100 course to Teterville rd aid station and back. 15-hour time limit.
- Marathon: A point-to-point course with a 1.2-mile loop in Cassoday, then out to Teterville rd aid station and back. 10-hour time limit.
- 1/2 Marathon: An out-and-back course from Teterville rd aid station to Teter Rock and back.
Schedule Highlights:
- Friday, October 9, 2026: Packet Pick-up (3:00 PM - 8:00 PM), 125 Mile Race Start (10:00 PM).
- Saturday, October 10, 2026: 100 Mile, 100K, 50 Mile Race Start (6:00 AM), Marathon Start (7:00 AM), 1/2 Marathon Start (12:00 PM).
- Sunday, October 11, 2026: Cutoff time for all 125 mile, 100-mile and 100K runners (Noon). Awards handed out.

Cassoday, KS. Nearest commercial airports are in Wichita (55 miles southwest) and Kansas City (146 miles northeast).

- Aid stations, crew access, and drop bag locations are detailed for each distance.
- Multiple challenge series are available, including the SOFA KING AWESOME 265 MILE CHALLENGE and the Kansas Grand Slam of Ultrarunning.
- Trekking poles are allowed.
- No dogs are allowed on the course.
