I AM Woman 5K

I AM Woman 5K is an annual race that aims to make a difference in the community by raising funds for parents and children in Lynchburg, VA. The event is organized in partnership with the Centra Foundation, with the goal of helping families live their best lives. The funds raised through participation and donations go towards securing specialized equipment for newborns and pediatric patients, such as fetal monitors and warmers. By supporting this event, you can help save the lives of the tiniest members of our community.

The race offers two options: an in-person 5K run/walk and a virtual 5K run/walk. The in-person race has a limited entry cap of 400 participants, so make sure to register early. Packet pick-up will take place on Friday, October 27th, at Riverside Runners, and on race day, Saturday, October 28th, at the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center.

Registration fees for the in-person race are $25 for early registration (7/15 - 9/15), $30 for regular registration (9/16 - 10/26), and $35 for late registration (10/27 - 10/28). The virtual 5K registration fee is $25. Family pricing is also available for 3-5 family members, with a $5 discount per registration.

All participants will receive a moisture-wicking t-shirt, with guaranteed availability for those who register by October 5th. Finishers will also receive a custom finisher medal. Awards will be given to the Race Champion, Top 3 Master Finishers, and the top 3 in each age group.

Since the event takes place during Halloween weekend, costumes are encouraged, and special prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.

For virtual participants, the process is simple. Pick up your finisher medal and t-shirt at packet pick-up, complete your 5K between Friday, October 27th, and Monday, October 30th, and upload your results via the RunSignUp website or by text message. Detailed instructions will be emailed to participants before the event.
