Race Details
The Montana Marathon is one of the oldest races in the state, founded on principles of nature, adventure, and community. All races conclude at Pioneer Park, where participants can enjoy a vibrant vendor area, refreshments, music, prizes, and awards.
The Montana Marathon is renowned as a FAST and beautiful Boston qualifier course! The initial ten miles feature scenic rolling green hills, followed by the final 16 miles which include a loss of 1,000 vertical feet.
Event Schedule & Courses
- Full Marathon (26.2 Miles): Starts at 7:00 AM MDT. Cut-off time: 7 hours (16 min mile). Course closes at 2:00 PM.
- Half Marathon (13.1 Miles): Starts at 8:00 AM MDT. Course closes at 2:00 PM. This event was selected by the Road Runners Club of America as the Montana State Championship Race.
- 10K (6 Miles): Starts at 9:15 AM MDT.
- 5K (3 Miles): Starts at 9:30 AM AM MDT.

Important Notes
- For safety, all racers except 5K participants must take a shuttle to the start areas. Parking is not available at the start lines.
- Shuttles for Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K depart from the Senior High School parking lot.
- 5K racers start at Rose Park and will be provided shuttles back to their cars after the race.
- Strollers are not permitted on the Marathon or Half Marathon Courses.
- Dogs are not permitted on any race courses.
- The course is open to traffic; participants should remain on the right side of the road and wear bright clothing.
- Music devices and earbuds/earphones are strongly discouraged.
Packet Pickup
- Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K: 5:15 AM - 7:30 AM on Race Day at Senior High School Parking Lot.
- 5K: 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM on Race Day at Rose Park by Pool Parking Area.
- Out-of-town participants who missed Saturday pickup can pick up race gear on Race Day.
