The ORRRC Wingman 10k is presented by the Ohio River Road Runners Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting running in the Dayton, Ohio area.
This is a "small race" event, meaning it is free for ORRRC members, free for anyone 14 and under, and $10 for everyone else. Membership in ORRRC costs $35 per year and includes over 20 races.
Expect a great team of volunteers, chip-timed finish, refreshments, and potential age group awards. No shirts or finisher medals are provided.
The race honors Joshua Shepherd, a military hero and friend of the race director, Eddie Weaver. It aims to promote values of friendship, goal-chasing, and mutual support.
The WingMan 10K emphasizes teamwork and meeting fellow runners. Runners are randomly assigned to one of six teams, and walkers to one of two teams. Non-competitive teams are available for those who prefer not to focus on competition.
A staggered start system based on age and sex is used to help even out teams.
Awards will be given to the first 25 overall runners, the first color team of runners, and the first color team of walkers.
Information on becoming an ORRRC member is available on their website.
Volunteers are welcome and can sign up via the "Volunteer" link on the page.
