Red Coyote is offering a Senior Marathon Training Program for the 2024 OKC Memorial Marathon. This program is open to all abilities aged 65 and older. Whether you are a beginner walker or an experienced runner, there is a place for you in this program. The goal is to train together and have fun while working towards a common goal. The program is designed to gradually increase your training mileage over 6 weeks, starting with a gentle 1 mile workout. By the end of the program, you will have logged 25 miles in preparation for the 1.2 mile race on April 27th, 2024. In addition to the training, participants will receive instruction on hydration, nutrition, injury prevention, and training principles to ensure a successful race. All participants will receive schedules through email, but communication will primarily be through Red Coyote's private Facebook group. Virtual participants or those who miss a run/walk can post their workouts to the Facebook group page to stay accountable. The program is free to join, but participants will be responsible for signing up for the 2024 OKC Senior Marathon. Optional program shirts are available for purchase for $15. The kickoff workout will be on Monday, March 18th at 7:00am at Red Coyote Classen Curve. Weekly workouts will be held every Monday and Saturday morning at 7:00am, with an additional evening option on Wednesdays at 6:00pm. There will be two informational meetings, with a Zoom option available for those unable to attend in person.
