Running of the Bulls - Trail Race

Race Info

The Running of the Bulls - Trail Race is a TRAIL RACE taking you through the heart of Big Sky on dirt and single track. Held on Sunday, July 12th at the Big Sky Events Arena, runners can tackle a 21K, 11K, or 5K Relay as a team of three.

This event is a fundraiser dedicated to supporting the Big Sky Community Organization. All proceeds from the event will help enhance community programs, local initiatives, and the trails you'll be running on.

The race will start and end at the Big Sky Events Arena, located at 450 Aspen Leaf Drive, Big Sky, MT, 59716.

ALL RUNNERS ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY BEAR SPRAY.

Events

• Trail 21K: Price: $65 - $75. Time: 7:00 AM MDT - 11:00 AM MDT. Registration Opens December 9, 2025 at 12:00 AM MST. Open to ages 12 - 100.
• Trail 11K: Price: $50 - $60. Time: 7:30 AM MDT - 11:00 AM MDT. Registration Opens December 9, 2025 at 12:00 AM MST. Open to ages 12 - 100.
• Trail 5K Relay (team of 3 people): Price: $25 - $35. Time: 8:00 AM MDT - 11:00 AM MDT. Registration Opens December 9, 2025 at 12:00 AM MST. Open to ages 10 - 100.

Race Schedule

• Saturday July 11th, 2026 - Big Sky Events Arena
  • 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM: Packet pickup and last minute registration available
• Sunday July 12th, 2026 - Big Sky Events Arena
  • 5:30 AM - 7:00 AM: Packet pick up and same day registration available
  • 6:30 AM: Announcement for 21K to start in 30 minutes
  • 6:50 AM: Call 21K runners to the start line for briefing
  • 7:00 AM: Gun goes off for 21K start
  • 7:20 AM: Call 11K runners to the start line for briefing
  • 7:30 AM: Gun goes off for 11K start
  • 7:50 AM: Call 5K relay runners to the start line for briefing
  • 8:00 AM: Gun goes off 5K relay start

Rules

Each course will have multiple aid stations at the racers disposal that are equipped with water, snacks, first aid, and medical personnel. There will be no pacers for any race. Spectators are encouraged from the start/finish line ONLY. Public access for all BSCO trails will be open to the public on race day but to avoid congestion, please refrain from using trails until after all races are finished (12 PM). Runners are responsible for their own behavior and actions of their spectators. There are no refunds allowed for this race for any reason. Changing distance or event is possible before July 12th with no refunds for the change. Dogs are not allowed to run with participants (even on leash).

21K and 11K Racer Requirements

• Bear spray
• Minimum of 16 oz water

5K Relay Racer Requirements

• Bear spray (one per team is fine)

• Collapsible/reusable cup (THIS IS A CUPLESS EVENT)
