SBM Stride for Science 5K Run/Walk

Event Details

The 2026 Run/Walk is a timed 5K along Lake Michigan, starting and ending in Grant Park, just a short 10-minute walk from the Hilton Chicago. Runners and walkers will experience a scenic route with a Lake Michigan sunrise on one side and landmarks like the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and Soldier Field on the other. Both runners and walkers are encouraged to sign up! A shorter route option will be marked at the Adler Planetarium for a one-mile loop. The Stride for Science Run/Walk starts promptly at 6:30 a.m.!

Bib & Shirt Pick-Up:

• Wednesday, April 22: SBM Annual Meeting Registration Desk in the Hilton Chicago (before 6 p.m.)
• Thursday, April 23: At the start/finish line in Grant Park at 6 a.m.

Participant Walk-Over to Grant Park: All run/walk participants should meet in the Hilton Chicago lobby foyer at 5:50 a.m. and check-in with SBM staff on-site. Staff will lead the walkover to Grant Park at 6 a.m. sharp.

Volunteer Walk-Over to Grant Park: All run/walk volunteers should meet in the Hilton Chicago lobby foyer at 5:40 a.m. and check-in with Physical Activity SIG outgoing chair, Rodney Joseph. Rodney will lead the volunteer walkover to Grant Park at 5:45 am.

Awards Recognition: Awards will be handed out to the top three overall male and female participants at the Presidential Keynote & Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 23 at 4-4:50 p.m.
