Join us for the first annual Turkey Trot – Thankful Paws 5K/10K Run on Thanksgiving morning at Rohr Park, in the beautiful city of Bonita, located in Chula Vista, CA. This special day is dedicated to giving thanks to our pets—past and present—for the joy, love, and companionship they've brought into our lives and homes. Enjoy a scenic course alongside a golf course and vibrant community park—perfect for both serious runners and casual participants. Whether you're chasing a PR on a fast course or simply looking for a joyful way to start your holiday, this event has something for everyone. We’re offering a 5K, 10K, Kids’ Mile, and our always-popular Doggy Mile! Bring the whole family—including your four-legged friends—and kick off your Thanksgiving with a fun, active, and festive tradition. All proceeds benefit Kane's Animal Rescue, a local nonprofit dedicated to giving abandoned and at-risk pets a second chance at life. So, while you're breaking a sweat, you're also making a difference. Come trot with us, give thanks, and support a great cause—because every step helps save a paw. Proceeds will benefit Kanes K9s & Animal Rescue ! Kanes K9s is a local nonprofit animal rescue organization. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the rescue.

FAQ

Bib Pickup : Registrations submitted on or after Nov. 20th will pick up their bib on race day. If you registered prior to Nov. 20th, bib pickup is available Sunday, Nov. 23rd at Road Runner Sports in Chula Vista from 2pm-6pm (2015 Birch Rd Suite #512, Chula Vista).

Dog Mile : For the dog mile, the dog must cross the finish line ahead of their owner/partner to log a valid race result.

Course Info

Dog Mile

The Dog Mile will be the first event, honoring/thanking our present and past pets for being part of our life and family. Runners with your pets, please have a 3-5ft leash. Bring doggy bags and water for you pets. Be mindful of other dogs around.

Kids 1 Mile Run

Kids will be running 15 minutes after the Dog Mile. Parents can run with their kids. All kids will get a finisher medal.

5K

5K runners will do one loop around the course. Those runners/walkers planning to participate with their dog, please be aware of the 10K runners coming around the 2nd loop, stay on the inside of the course. Runners/ walkers with their dog may use the alternate trail course inside the park.

10K

10K runners will two loops around the course. 5K runners might be on the course towards the end of the course. To pass 5K runners/walkers, please do so on the right hand side and around.
