Spring Magic in Oregon's Tillamook Forest!

Welcome to the Tillamook Burn, Daybreak Racing's oldest event and a Pacific NW classic. 'The Burn' has become a springtime trail running tradition, staged at historic Reehers Camp in the lush and rugged Tillamook State Forest, halfway between Portland and the Oregon Coast. Featuring beautiful and tough trail races of 50 miles and 55K plus an epic double for those daring enough to run both races, runners can expect superb mountain singletrack, magical community campfire vibes, rumbling waterfalls and a million shades of green, as brilliant spring foliage, fiddleheads and blossoms line every inch of the course.

50 Miler - Saturday

The Tillamook Burn 50 miler is a classic point-to-point route that traverses west to east across much of the Oregon Coast Range mountains! This springtime gem features a forested, mountainous course on some of the highest quality singletrack trails found anywhere. In all, the course features 9000’ of climbing and 8400’ of descent on 42 miles of single track and 8 miles of rugged forest roads. There are 7 aid stations along the course and a 14 hour overall time limit.

55K - Sunday

The Tillamook Burn 55K is a beautifully tough, heavily forested lollipop loop course, run almost entirely on singletrack trail. The route traverses the Oregon Coast Range mountain divide, involving 35 miles, 6900 ft. of ascent and 6900 ft. of descent. There are 5 full aid stations along the course and a generous 10 hour time limit.

50M/55K Double

Runners can choose this grueling back-to-bach challenge by running both races on event weekend-- the 50 Miler on Saturday and the 55K on Sunday. Brutal and epic!

Background

The mountainous, temperate Tillamook Rainforest in Northwestern Oregon is steeped in history, most notably, the legendary “Tillamook Burn” forest fires that consumed 355,000 acres of colossal old growth forest from 1933-1951. One of the largest tree replanting campaigns in human history led to the formation of the Tillamook State Forest in 1974. Today, a lush second-growth forest thrives here, offering dozens of miles of exceptional single-track trails for us to enjoy, while showcasing hundreds of massive, emblematic “grey ghost” snags and charred stumps-- enduring relics of the vast old growth rainforest that reigned here prior to the Tillamook Burn.
