Uforea

What is Uforea?

"Uforea", a play on "euphoria" (runner's high) and "Uwharrie Forest"; is a new type of trail challenge. This event is brought to you by the UwharrieUltras team (the same folks who direct Uwharrie 100 Mile Run, Uwharrie 100K and the Gold Rush 50K) to provide what we believe is a truly unique race format.

UFOREA DAYTIME 50K (8:00AM start)

The UFOREA DAYTIME 50K, will consist of a daytime "clockwise" tour of the Uwharrie and Dutchman's Creek Trail systems. Each runner will complete a massive 20.5 mile loop, before heading out on a "lower" 11.4 mile loop to finish the 32-ish mile course. The race will start at 8am, Saturday April, 18 2026 and will have an 11 HOUR cutoff. Finishing at 7pm.

UFOREA NIGHTTIME 50K (8:00PM start)

The UFOREA NIGHTTIME 50K, will consist of a nighttime "counter-clockwise" tour of the Uwharrie and Dutchman's Creek Trail systems. Each runner will complete a massive 20.5 mile loop, before heading out on the "lower" 11.4 mile loop, to finish the 32-ish mile course. The race will start at 8pm, Saturday April, 18 2026 and will have an 12 HOUR cutoff. Finishing at 8am Sunday, April 19, 2026.

ULTIMATE UFOREA 100K (Daytime race, then Nighttime race)

Think you can tackle BOTH races for the ultimate runner's high? Sign up for the ULTIMATE UFOREA 100K to complete "100K in a Day". Keep in mind, the races START at the stated times above, so a quick finish on the daytime 50K means HOURS waiting for the nighttime event to start. The podium will be decided by the LOWEST combined times between the DAYTIME and NIGHTTIME events. I.e. DAYTIME 50K of 7 hours and NIGHTTIME event of 8 hours = 15 hour TOTAL time.

Ultimate Uforea has a 100 participant limit; DAYTIME ONLY has a 50 participant limit; NIGHTTIME ONLY has a 50 participant limit

REFUND POLICY

50% refunds will be issued until January 1st of the race year for any registered entrant who requests to withdraw. No full refunds or bib transfers will be offered. If granted a deferment you are allowed a SINGLE deferment: Multiple deferments will not be honored. In the event of an unforeseen life circumstance such as; pregnancy, postpartum, death of a family member, military duty/deployment; 100% credit towards a future race will be applied. Each situation will be reviewed individually.

This is an event that is being conducted on the Uwharrie National Forest and is authorized under a Special Use Permit.
