Prepare for a course that highlights the very best of Wisp’s wild, rugged Appalachian terrain. Your adventure begins at the resort base, climbing swiftly up the wooded ski-runs and service roads toward the ridge, via ski-service roads and double-track connectors. You’ll weave onto flowing single-track through the forest before linking up with the “High Roller”, “Easy Does It”, and “Squirrel Cage” trail segments—each offering its own rhythm of flow, climbs, and technical touches. As you climb higher, the challenge intensifies. You'll pass through the forested grades of the “Fork Run Recreation Area” and ascend the ridge near the summit, finally linking to the exposed ridge line that overlooks Deep Creek Lake. At the summit the vista opens up: panoramic mountain views, crisp air, and a rewarding vantage point before the real fun begins. From there, you’ll dive into an exhilarating descent—perhaps via sections of “Monkey Shine” and other freeride-flow trails mentioned in local ride guides. The final stretch funnels you down ski-trail connectors and wooded run corridors back to the village base area where a fantastic post-trek celebration awaits: cold drinks, great food, music, and your fellow UltraTrax adventurers. Choose your distance: 7, 14, 21, or 28 miles —and finish within 10 hours to earn the coveted UltraTrax Grey Wolf Medal. Add a 10, 20, or 35-lb weighted vest or ruck to unlock bonus finisher swag and serious bragging rights. The course will be extremely well marked, with the finish line party happening for everyone’s celebration. There will be aid stations with water, electrolytes, snacks and bathrooms located every 2.5 to 3 miles along the course. This event is perfect for beginners, seasoned vets, and those looking for a personal best.
