UW-Madison SAVMA 5K Wags for Wellness Walk/Run 2026

Time: Check-In 8:00 AM - 8:45 AM, Race Start 9:00 AM CDT - 12:00 PM CDT

Description: You are invited to participate in the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine SAVMA's Run/ Walk 5k to raise awareness regarding wellness and mental well-being for veterinary students and professionals. Dogs are welcome to participate in the race as well.

Requirements: Completion of a waiver and submission of up to date vaccination documentation (Rabies and Distemper) are required for participation.

Parking: Lot 60 near the boat launch. Parking is free on the weekends.

Weather Policy: IF THERE IS RAIN OR SNOW DURING THE EVENT, THE RACE WILL STILL BE HELD.

Perks: Registered participants will receive a T-shirt and a grab bag. Raffle prizes and a breakfast will occur post race.

Pricing: The registration fee increases as we get closer to the race date so be sure to purchase tickets early!

Mission: Bringing awareness for mental health and wellbeing for individuals in the veterinary profession. The veterinary profession is experiencing a mental health crisis. Individuals in this field especially struggle with anxiety, depression, and suicide. Managing work-life balance, stress, facing imposter syndrome, and high emotions from clients can all be factors that attribute to this. We hope to increase awareness and support for individuals in the veterinary field and to end the stigma discussing mental health issues by providing resources and by promoting health, wellbeing, and supporting healthy relationships and teams within workplaces.
