WINDSOR WATERFRONT HALF MARATHON & 5KM

Race Overview

Join us for the Windsor Waterfront Half Marathon & 5K, a premier event designed to showcase Windsor as a top destination for big city races. This out-and-back, timed, and certified course offers an energy-filled, runner’s dream experience.

Start Location: In front of Caesars Windsor casino and hotel.

Scenic Views: The Detroit skyline will be visible to your left as you begin. Run along beautiful Riverside Drive, fully closed off for the event. Pass by Windsor's pristine waterfront parks. Enjoy views of the famous Hiram Walker distillery, home to Canadian Club Whisky, JP Wiser’s, and Polar Ice Vodka. Experience high-energy turn-around points filled with spectators, music, and cheer.

Pre-Race

Each participant will receive a custom Windsor Waterfront T-shirt in their race packet with other sponsored goodies!

Course Details

Start Line: Runners will start with the Detroit skyline on their left, heading east along Riverside Drive.

First Turn-Around: Pass under the Hiram Walker distillery, reach the first turn-around point filled with spectators and music, then head back west.

Spectator Boost: Pass the start line again, receiving a boost from cheering crowds and lively music.

Westward Route: Continue west with the Windsor waterfront and Detroit skyline as your backdrop. Run underneath the Ambassador Bridge into historic Sandwich town.

Second Turn-Around: Make another turn at a music-filled archway with cheering spectators and head back east.

Runner Interaction: See fellow runners on the opposite side of the road, high-fiving and cheering each other on.

Final Stretch: Runners will finish off heading West, veering right towards the waterfront into a nice downhill that leads to the finish line and festival plaza entrance.

Post-Race Celebration

Receive a custom 4” medal as you cross the finish line. Enjoy food and refreshments at Festival Plaza while awaiting the awards ceremony. Food trucks will be also be onsite!

Bib Transfers: Available until Friday, September 1st at midnight.

Refunds: No refunds unless registration insurance is purchased.

Training Program

The Ground Effects Windsor Waterfront Half Marathon Training Program is an 18-week program offered by STRIDEWISE, with a range of distance options and workouts per week to help participants start safely and progress effectively.

Packet Pickup

Dates & Times:
Thursday, September 10th from 4pm-9pm
Friday, September 11th from 4pm-9pm
Saturday, September 12th from 11am-5pm

Location: Walkerville Brewery

Parking

Options include Ferry St. Parking Garage, Pellisier St. Garage, and street parking throughout downtown. Note: No parking around Festival Plaza.

Aid Station Information

Aid stations are located approximately every 2.5km and will provide water and Skratch Labs hydration mix/chews for Half Marathon participants. The 5K course will utilize select stations.

Course Certifications

Both Half Marathon and 5km courses are certified by Athletics Canada.

Prizing

Awards for overall male/female winners and age group categories for both 5K and Half Marathon events.
