About the Event

7th Annual Yakima Mile -- Saturday, June 7, 2026

The course follows a one-mile, gradual downhill stretch of Yakima Ave. finishing in the shadows of Yakima’s historic Larson Building. Yakima Mile is open to kids, families, dogs, veterans, elite runners, and all those who want to run their fastest mile…. EVER (or walk, or jog... as you like).

The Elite Mile races bring together many of the fastest milers from around the nation in hopes of breaking the Fastest Mile in Washington – yet again – and taking home some big cash prizes. Sam Prakel currently holds the men's fastest mile in Washington time of 3:50.5 and Nikki Hiltz holds the women's record at 4:20.5. Competitive races are stacked across the board with cash prizes – the total purse for 2026 is over $60,000. Including $10,000 across the TOP 3 groups by number of finishers.

Yakima Mile is much more than a race. We bring our community together for fun and fitness; providing a healthy community event open to everyone, highlighting and celebrating the Yakima Valley on a local and national scale.

Hogback Development Company, the producer of Yakima Mile, seeks to work with community leaders, businesses, and individuals to shed light on and better access the invaluable services provided by YWCA to survivors of domestic violence.
