Jemez Mountain Trail Runs

Overview

The Jemez Mountain Trail Runs take place in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico. The races start and end in the town of Los Alamos. Registration will open for all races on January 3, 2026. Entry fees will be $100 for the 15 mile, $150 for the 50km, and $175 for the 50 mile. A price increase of $25 will occur on April 1st, 2026. Jemez Mountain Trail Runs is proud to maintain our nonprofit status since the race's inception in 2006. Since then JMTR has donated close to $300,000 to local organizations and scholarships, thanks to runners like you. In addition to donations to the local community, your race entry gets you local, handmade Jemez Pottery; a pre-race pasta dinner; a post-race New Mexican feast/barbeque with local beers; and a Rabbit technical run tee.

Course Description

The Jemez Mountains Trail Runs has gained a reputation as a very difficult course. The course is on technical trails with a substantial amount of elevation change. The 50k and 50 mile events include extremely steep climbs and descents on very technical terrain. On the course, runners will experience high altitude (from 7,000 to over 10,000 feet above sea level), fallen trees, and other obstacles. In past years, runners have experienced weather extremes including heat, cold, rain, hail, snow, extreme lightning and wind. All course will remain the same as since 2021. In 2021 the 50 mile course route was 2 miles longer than previous years (~53 miles).

Mandatory Gear Policy

The purpose of the mandatory gear policy is to enhance the safety of runners and event staff in the event of inclement weather. Race officials reserve the right to pull runners if they do not have appropriate gear to ensure safety.

Refund and Waitlist Policy

We offer a 50% refund only before May 1, 2025 and ONLY if your spot can be filled. Please Email [email protected] to request a partial refund. Starting on May 1, 2025 all entry fees are nonrefundable.
