The race is named after the Murderkill River, which runs through Killens Pond State Park. The course is a 3.10-mile loop, mostly dirt, within the park. It features some roots and rocks but is generally gentle with low elevation gain per loop. The course is mostly shaded, and participants can cool off in the pond. Light trail shoes are recommended.

Course Details:

• Almost all dirt loop, 3.10-ish miles.
• Within Killen's Pond State Park.
• Gentle terrain with low rise (approx. 80 feet of climb per loop).
• Mostly shaded.
• Opportunities to jump in the pond for cooling.
• Parts of the course are around the parking lot and on an aluminum footbridge.
• North portion of Pondside Trail is broad and mostly dirt.
• Southside portion is single track with some roots.
• All races start at 8am (ish) at the picnic tables.
• Bathrooms are available in the parking area.

Race Style: "Fat Ass" style, meaning self-supported with a community table for aid. Water will be provided but not cold. Timing is manual. No shirts or medals are guaranteed unless paid for. This is for runners who prefer an old-school approach without extensive support.

Park Information:

• Killen's Pond is located about 15 miles south of Dover, DE.
• The park opens at 7:00 AM and closes at sunset (approx. 8:15 PM).
• "Pack it in, Pack it out" policy; no garbage cans in the park.
• Park entry fee is included in the race entry fee.

Entry Details:

• Each race is capped at 30 persons.
• No waitlist, deferrals, or transfers.

Pricing:

• All races are capped at $40.00 (plus Ultrasignup fees).
• Price covers parking, park permit, race insurance, and water.
• Excess funds will be donated to the park.
• No refunds will be given for any reason.

Other Information:

• Weather: Expect it to be hot and humid.
• Crewing: Easy to crew yourself by backing your car near the course.
• Park Etiquette: Be respectful, as the park is open to all.
• Amenities: Closest hotels in Harrington, Frederica, or Dover. Cabins and campgrounds available at Killens Pond. Gas/convenience stores nearby.
• Rain or Shine: Event is rain or shine, with the ONLY exception being thunderstorms.
• Thunderstorms: Runners will be pulled off the course if thunderstorms approach or are present. No exceptions.
• Time Limits: All races have a 12-hour time limit.
