O'CRUD 2026 - Open Water Catawba River Up and Down

The O'CRUD (Open-water Catawba River Up and Down) race on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, will feature two distance options: 2.4 miles and 10K. Both races start and finish at the Mount Holly Boat Landing in Mount Holly, NC. Participants will swim upstream for half the distance and then downstream to the finish. This event is the 2026 kickoff of the Charlotte Open Water Swim Series.

Course Details:
An out-and-back course in the Catawba River. Water temperatures are expected to be between 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit. There is no strict time limit, but the race director has discretion to pull swimmers. Kayak escorts are mandatory for 10K swimmers.
