Register for the Soapstone Mountain Trail Races on Sunday, May 17, 2026, located at 93 Handel Rd, Stafford Springs, CT. This event features a Half Marathon and a 6K "Sampler" race.

New in 2026: Soapstone Mountain Half Marathon! This new trail race course will challenge runners, with opportunities to tag the tower twice. The Jerry Stage 6K "Sampler" continues as a shorter option.

Both races run through the beautiful and scenic Shenipsit Forest State Park around Soapstone Mountain. The location is family-friendly, encouraging picnics and chairs.

Courses

• Soapstone Mountain Half Marathon Course: Starts at Reddington Rock Riding Club (RRRC), winds through dirt roads and single track, joins the blue-blazed Shenipsit Trail, crosses Gulf Road, and goes out-and-back to Hopkins Road. Runners will ascend Soapstone Mountain past the fire tower twice. Aid stations will be available.
• Jerry Stage 6K "Sampler" Course: Also begins at RRRC, follows single track, then dirt road (Sodom Road), and a section of the Shenipsit Blue-Blazed Trail before returning to the finish. Walkers and hikers are welcome.

Logistics

• Location: Reddington Rock Riding Club, 93 Handel Road, Stafford Springs, CT
• Start Times: Half Marathon at 9:00 AM, 6K at 10:00 AM
• Registration Closes: Sat, May 16 @ 3:00 PM ET
• The race is cupless; participants must carry their own water containers.
• There are three aid stations for the Half Marathon; no aid is provided on the 6K course.

About the Organizers

The event is associated with the Shenipsit Striders, a trail running club founded in 1975, which donates proceeds to trail stewardship organizations in Connecticut.

• Half Marathon Registration: $35.00 (+$3.50 taxes & fees)
• 6K Registration: $25.00 (+$3.50 taxes & fees)
