The D.C. Raymond M. Downey 'Forever Running' Memorial 5K Run/Walk

The Downey family invites you to join them for the 25th Anniversary of the D.C. Raymond M. Downey “Forever Running” Memorial 5K Run/Walk. This event honors the memory of Chief Raymond M. Downey, as well as all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and those who have since passed from 9/11-related illnesses.

For those unable to attend in person, a Virtual 5K Run is offered.

Live Run Details:

• Date: Sunday, June 21st, 2026
• Time: 9:30 AM
• Course: 5k (3.1 miles) fast & flat run through Deer Park, USATF certified and sanctioned.
• Location: Deer Park Firefighters Training Center, 972 Nicolls Road, Deer Park, NY

Virtual Run Details:

• Date Range: Sunday, June 21st to Sunday, June 28th, 2026
• Run Anytime, Anywhere.

Pricing:

• Live Race Fee: $25 (Before April 15th), $30 (After April 15th), $40 (Day of race)
• Virtual Race Fee: $30

Awards:

Plaques for first place winners (male & female). Top 3 males & females in various age groups. Special awards for Wheelchair, Special Olympians, Cancer Survivors, Deer Park Teachers, Firefighters, Law Enforcement, and Military. Team divisions available.

Kids Fun Run:

• No Fee
• Registration: 8:00-9:00 a.m. on race day.

Scholarship Charity Fund:

Established in tribute to Chief Downey's legacy, the fund benefits organizations he cherished.
