The Gamble - April 19, 2026

Feeling lucky? Come try The Gamble! This is a race consisting of a ~1.67 mile loop where at the start, dice will be rolled to determine the number of laps everyone will run. The distance is not guaranteed and can range from 3.33 miles to 20 miles. The course features a mix of dirt singletrack, paved pathways, hills, stairs, and gravel, with potential for mud. Proceeds support The Run828 Foundation and North Carolina Mountain Trail Runners (NCMTR).

The Course

The loop is approximately 1.67 miles and is a figure 8. The number of laps is determined by a dice roll at the start. Past events have seen distances ranging from approximately 10k to 18 miles.

Aid & Facilities

An aid station will be at the start/end of the loop and will be cupless, requiring participants to bring their own hydration containers. Basic aid station fare will be provided. Restrooms are located nearby.

Refunds, Cutoffs, Inclement Weather, Etc.

No refunds are offered. The absolute cutoff for the event is 3:00 PM. The event is planned to run rain or shine, with no makeup date in case of cancellation.
