Overview

The Rim Ripper is designed for both first-time trail runners and seasoned athletes. It offers four distances to cater to various skill levels and aims to give back to the local community. The event is hosted by Run Oregon, a Weston company focused on promoting active lifestyles through running and walking events.

The Course

The course primarily features flowy Umatilla Rim Trail single track with a short section of forest service access road. Runners will experience stunning vistas of the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness. Each course is marked with colored flagging tape and confidence markers, but runners are responsible for navigation.

• 23-Miler (22.8 miles): Includes 18.5 miles of single track on Umatilla Rim and Lake Creek trails, with forest access roads to the finish. ~2324 ft. vertical gain.
• Half Marathon (13.6 miles): Mostly single track on Umatilla Rim, finishing on forest access roads. ~1,434 ft. vertical gain.
• 11K (6.8 miles): A portion on single track along Umatilla Rim, finishing on gravel forest service access roads. ~691 ft. vertical gain.
• 7K (4.5 miles): Starts on single track along Umatilla Rim, finishing on forest service gravel roads. ~423 ft. vertical gain.

The course will not be closed to the public and may have other trail users. Runners are expected to yield to others and exercise caution on roadways.

Start Times:

• 23-Miler Start: 7:30 am
• Half Marathon Start: 8:00 am
• 11K Start: 8:30 am
• 7K Start: 9:00 am

Aid Stations

Aid stations provide water and electrolytes. The 23-Miler has four, the Half Marathon has two, and the 11K/7K have one each. An aid station is also available at the start/finish line.

Note: This is a cup-less course. Runners must carry a drinking vessel. Reusable bottles will be available for purchase (cash only).

Start/Finish Line

Located at Horseshoe Prairie, off Oregon Highway 204. Portable toilets and finish line snacks will be available. Parking is across the highway at Andes Prairie Snopark. Bag staging is available but not secured.

Bib Pickup

Race check-in and bib pickup on event morning, starting at 7:00 am.

Course Cutoff

2:00 pm cutoff for the event.

Registration & Pricing Info

Registrations accepted via UltraSignup until Wednesday prior to the event. Race day registrations are also accepted with an additional $10 fee.

• Jan 01-Sep 01, 2026: 23-Miler: $110, Half Marathon: $70, 11K: $45, 7K: $35
• Sep 02-Sep 23, 2026: 23-Miler: $130, Half Marathon: $80, 11K: $55, 7K: $45
• Event Day Registration: Additional $10 on top of Sep 02-Sep 23 pricing.

Awards/Swag

All finishers receive event swag. Top male and female finishers for each distance receive a custom medal. Run Oregon swag available for purchase.

Local Beneficiary

Run Oregon supports local communities. The 2026 beneficiary is TBD. Past beneficiaries include Athena Weston Youth Sports Association and Athena-Weston School District Cross Country and Track & Field programs.

No transfers or refunds for any reason.

This event is USATF sanctioned and permitted by the Walla Walla Ranger District, Umatilla National Forest.
