Now in its 12th year (11th running, considering Covid), the Starved Rock Country Marathon and Half Marathon have become the 'must do' events of the running community in central Illinois. The Marathon course will once again encompass the stunning scenery of the Illinois River, the neighborhoods of Ottawa, and the rolling landscapes around Starved Rock State Park.
Runners will be inspired by the rolling country hills and unique rock formations nestled in heavily wooded areas molded by the Illinois River over thousands of years. The Half Marathon starts in the heart of Starved Rock State Park and finishes along the Illinois River in Ottawa.
Although the Marathon and Half Marathon do present some elevation changes, the stunning views make it all worthwhile. The Run Starved Rock 5K will start and end at the same lines as the Marathon, following part of the Half Marathon route before returning to Ottawa for a finish along the river.
This event is a fantastic opportunity for those participating, as well as family and friends looking to cheer on their runners while engaging in a day of physical activity.
A portion of this event will benefit local charities, promoting running and physical activity in the community.
Registration: There is NO race day registration.
Packet Pickup: From 1 - 8 PM on Friday, May 9th at Ottawa Knights of Columbus Hall, 401 W. Main Street, Ottawa, IL. Participants will receive their bibs (required for race participation), a participant shirt, and a swag bag filled with local offers and race information.
