2026 Natural Areas Festival - 5K Trail (FUN) Run for the Natural Areas

This fun run will guide participants around a stunning wetland teeming with wildlife. This 5K Trail (FUN) Run for the Natural Areas is part of our Natural Areas Festival, with the main event at Winding Waters Natural Area on Saturday, January 31st. Visit pbcnaturalares.com/festival for more info.

The Run for the Natural Areas aims to showcase the Palm Beach County Natural Areas. Winding Waters is an over 500-acre natural area containing a diversity of habitats, such as mesic flatwoods, hydric hammock, depression marsh, wet prairie, and dome swamp. Several areas were cleared for agricultural purposes and have been restored to shallow-water and deep-water marshes.

The 5K course is a loop ringing the restored wetland offering scenic views of the teeming plant and animal life.

This run is not timed nor will there be t-shirts or medals for all participants. However, the female/male 1st - 3rd place runners will receive a beautiful wooden laser-carved award.

IMPORTANT: THE STARTING LINE FOR THE (FUN) RUN IS APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE FROM THE EVENT. SO IN ADDITION WITH TIME NEEDED FOR PARKING, PLEASE GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME TO ARRIVE BEFORE THE RUN START.

• Hat and sunscreen

No pets or unsupervised children (please stay with your child if running)
